Political Leadership in the 21st century
Passionate about the issue of leadership in today's challenging times, Vinay Rai spoke at length about the need for alternative paradigms of global leadership, keeping in with the new demands of the 21st century. Alluding to the work of the The W.K Kellogg Foundation which is dedicated to 'building leadership capacity for the 21st century', he too endorsed the imminent need for inculcating the spirit of leadership amongst all stakeholders in governance. Indeed, democratic and participatory leadership, according to him, is the call of our times. Especially in the case of India, he says, shared leadership will be most effective in dealing with the challenges of poverty, inequity, disease and hunger, in socially sustainable ways, and in ways that best address the concerns of a diverse and multicultural audience. He called upon Presidents and world Leaders like George W. Bush, President of United States, Dr.A. P. Abdul Kalam, President of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, Europa, leaders of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, à la une, Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation and Bundesprasident Horst Kohler for their innate support. |
